A Second Wind - Chincoteague's Premier Waterfront Vacation Rental
Local Recommendations!

Favorite Shops:

Wine Cheese and More - The name says it all! Great selection of wines and cheeses!

Gary Howard Seafood - The best spot to get fresh seafood and shellfish - usually straight from the boat!

Michael's Jewelry
-

If you're lucky Lynne will be there- one of our favorite persons on the island!

Favorite Chincoteague / Assateague Excursions:

1.  Hike the trails at Assateague!  Great wildlife viewing: birds, ponies, deer and more!  The Assateague Lighthouse is beautiful and only a short hike.  Check out this writeup of the lighthouse.  Here's a great article about the beauty of Assateague in the off-season, bird watching and viewing the ponies (from USA Today).  Here's another article on Assateague from the Baltimore Sun.

2.  An afternoon on the beach in Assateague!  What more is there to say? The beach at this national park is big and beautiful!

3.  Boat rides through the channels behind Chincoteague / Assateague / Wallops Island! If you didn't bring a boat call Captain Bob's Marina and ask about renting a boat for the afternoon.

4.  A walk downtown for coffee in the morning!  Main St. Shop and Coffeehouse opens early and has a great gift shop.

5.  Walking downtown for ice cream!  Less than a half mile from the house is the best homemade ice cream at Muller's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor

6.  Art strolls!  The second saturday of each month there is an art stroll downtown and the various boutiques stay open late, serve wine, and showcase great local artwork and decoys.

Island Cafe - Island Cafe is by far the best breakfast spot on the island!  Grand Marnier french toast, fantastic eggs and bacon, everything is good!  It's on Main St. about a half mile north of the bridge at the motel.

Sugarbakers Bakery and Cafe - Bakery on Main St. in the downtown area.  Good place to get a breakfast pastry.
